ILM opened the Sydney studio in 2019. The youngest of all the ILM schools, the Sydney studio utilizes the skills and development knowledge of over 40 years of Industrial Light & Magic, working with some of the best artists and experts in the region. Knowledge and culture flow from the company’s five studios, and international teams share tools and labor, ensuring the unity of all shared projects.

We are looking for a CG Supervisor to join us. Working under the direction of the Producers and VFX Supervisors, the CG Supervisor ensures that every shot delivered meets the team’s strict guidelines and supports the director’s creative vision by guiding the work, process, composition and communication of the artist.

Main duties:

Participate in the performance (or multiple smaller shows, if required) and make all decisions related to performance development and implementation needs, including operations, decisions, and pipelines. Act as the final decision maker on all professional matters that span multiple disciplines (e.g., requesting the most appropriate interdisciplinary work if sight is inaccessible).

Business owners plan to access and collaborate with key stakeholders from all ILM locations around the world for details on planning, delivery and more. You are responsible for ensuring that your technology is functional in all ILM environments, including issues such as permissions, physical requirements, data sharing and other issues which may vary from location to location. .

Responsible for show-by-show forecasting of licenses, systems, renders and storage needs throughout the reporting period. ILM works with qualified studio representatives in locations around the world to provide performance for major studio-level ratings and reports.

Direct supervision of new licensees, reporting on special operations and technological developments. While you may assume or delegate “Product Ownership” responsibility for new technology at the salon, you are still responsible for the success of those experiences.

Make sure that the show’s decision-making process meets the pipeline’s goals and that new technology developed at the show meets those needs. Make these efforts visible to R&D, P.E., IT, and CG operations leaders.

Collaborate with CG Technical Supervisor and R&D, PE and IT Supervisor on process issues and priority requirements. Effective and ongoing communication of show priorities, needs, and concerns, particularly between the show producer and VFX supervisors, CG technical supervisor management team, and weekly CG supervisor meetings throughout of the broadcast and the studio.

Identify and communicate the need for all decisions that result in differences between asset management tools and operations (for example, any changes in student, manufacturer name, shooting model, software selection, etc.).

We work with contractors and other ILM producers for all shooting and data sharing issues, including file formats and formats, color space issues, and more. related to the show

Required Skills/Technical Skills:

Good working knowledge of Linux, Python and shell scripting is required.

Strong knowledge of the last days. Demonstrated ability to work competently, energetically and enthusiastically in a team environment with minimal supervision.
