  •  Schedule B, ECCN, and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications for AA operations daily.
  •  establishes and maintains communication channels with all internal and external departments involved in product imports and exports, as well as with internal and external legal departments, CBP, and customs brokers.

  •  identifies and complies with all laws and regulations established by government agencies (e.g. FDA/FCC/EPA/ETC).
  •  The Customs Manuals published by AA are updated and kept current.
  •  conducts audits both before and after entries are made, fixing errors as necessary.
  •  handles post-summary rectifications.
  •  answers the CBP’s and other governmental organizations’ questions.
  •  responds to inquiries from customs brokers and resolves problems with import shipments.
  •  creates requests for CBP to receive binding decisions.
  •  organizes internal departmental audits to make sure that corporate policies are being followed.
  •  ensures that each Importer Security Filing (ISF) for incoming ocean freight is submitted by the customs broker accurately and on time.
  •  On import requirements, internal clients are educated and trained.

  •  an undergraduate degree or the equivalent amount of experience.
  •  a three-year track record in the industry.
 The preferred qualifications are education and work experience.
  •  A four-year trade compliance background is necessary to work with the HTSUS and CFR19.
  •  knowledge of ECCN classification and Schedule B.
  •  knowledge of supply chains, hazardous materials, in-flight products, or aircraft maintenance.
  •  knowledge of using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI), CBP rulings, and explanatory notes to assign HTS numbers.
 Knowledge, authorizations, and certifications.
  •  knowing how to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.
  •  American Customs Brokers License.
  •  familiarity with NAFTA, duty drawback, ACE, ISA, C-TPAT, civil aircraft, and other specialized programs.
  •  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as follow-up and follow-through skills.
