Full Job Description :
The expansion of our physical retail portfolio and the management of our department for store development are two responsibilities that Wayfair is looking for in a qualified executive. Wayfair is developing a physical retail platform with four stores already open that will act as the offline home destination for Specialty Retail Brands as well as Wayfair. We believe there is room for development in the brick-and-mortar sector as well as an opportunity to create a distinctive shopping experience that emphasizes the breadth and depth of our product offering. To support the expansion of our physical retail initiative as we move into the next phase of our physical retail expansion, Wayfair is looking for a Head of Store Development.
Depending on their level of experience, the chosen candidate will be required to manage some or all of the key work streams for store development (Real Estate, Construction, and Design), and they will also be expected to:
Real Estate:
- In charge of a team that monitors the implementation of physical retail for a variety of brands, making decisions about things like the location and timing of store expansion, landlord/developer relations, leasing agreements, data-driven customer and market analytics, etc.
- Create market and site selection strategies, methods for locating and conducting due diligence on potential retail sites, and data-driven evaluation and comparison procedures. Encourage innovation in the tools and processes used for site selection.
- Establish and maintain a pipeline of potential properties that will present ongoing chances to increase the store portfolio over the short and long terms.
- Manage all retail real estate transactions, including development agreements, leases, renewals, expansions, subleasing, and other transaction types.
- Work with brokers, landlords, and developers as necessary to carry out Wayfair’s retail strategy.
Construction:
- monitor all building and renovation projects for stores.
- act as the primary point of contact for all internal and external stakeholders, including physical retail teams, Wayfair leadership, architects, contractors, specialty vendors, and external project managers.
- maintain adherence to project budgets and schedules.
- Improve the construction process to lower costs and hasten the opening of new stores.
Design:
Improve the customer experience, store performance, and financial outcomes for various brands by fine-tuning the store concepts in close cooperation with cross-functional and external partners.

This position will report to the head of real estate and will have significant cross-functional responsibility. The Head of Store Development should plan to start with a small staff and then grow it as needed based on volume and business strategy. Requirements:
- Arts bachelor’s degree.
- You should have a lot of experience developing retail stores in the three focus areas of real estate site selection, store design, and construction administration.
- Strong business management skills; demonstrated ability to plan and direct important strategic initiatives.
- the capacity to carry out strategic plans, drive outcomes with a variety of teams and stakeholders, and inspire and motivate teams to realize the vision of the future state.
