Wayfair is seeking a qualified Chief Architect to lead the technical strategy and execution across all of our retail brands (Wayfair, Perigold, AllModern, Joss and Main, and Birch Lane) and geographies (currently 5 countries and expanding to 15+ over the next few years). Wayfair processed $12 billion in net revenue in 2022 on an addressable market of $800 billion (and growing), so we are just getting started.

This team’s mission is to provide an excellent, global platform so that we can create a wonderful transactional experience for our customers and suppliers while managing any transaction risk and the overall cost of payment.

This position empowers a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts. With an emphasis on efficiency, scalability, and profitability, with a real-time impact on the entire business, we are rapidly expanding our payments platform (which includes fintech, loyalty, and fraud) to meet customer demand.

You’ll carry out:

Assist in the creation and development of a platform that communicates with numerous systems both inside and outside of Wayfair as well as with partners worldwide, taking the technical lead in the important area.
Develop and implement a multi-year technology strategy for Wayfair’s Fintech and Loyalty ecosystem, making a significant contribution.
By architecting them, you can produce high-quality, scalable, and future-proof services. Then, you can review the resulting code to make sure that it complies with system boundaries that are dependable and support long-term vision and strategy.
Discuss technical issues with everyone and help to produce well-researched conclusions.
Drive practical development, including conception, design, execution, and delivery, while adhering to best practices for both design and coding.
The team must focus intensely on all facets of production readiness, including testing, monitoring, deployment, documentation, and proactive troubleshooting.
By locating risks and weaknesses in technical approaches and suggesting fixes, the department’s technical vision should be met.
the department’s strategy and roadmap, as well as participate in and influence them.
Support other engineers’ technical growth by partnering, mentoring, and providing more educational opportunities.
Have others recognize your expertise as reliable and cooperative in the team’s larger focus area.

You will need:

4+ years of engineering experience; preference will be given to candidates with experience working for both start-ups and big businesses.
engineering knowledge in the area of payments, especially about larger-scale integrations (credit cards, financing, BNPL, applications).
Another major plus is prior experience with e-commerce on a well-known website or customer-facing technology.
practical experience driving software transformations in high-growth environments.
the ability to design and develop large-scale cloud-based technology.
With a history of leading teams and influencing outcomes, excellent communication skills.

Requirements in technology.

exposure to scalable cloud native technologies (GCP, AWS, Azure).
knowledge of distributed systems.
technologies based on data that is stored in the cloud.
For this virtual position, travel to our Boston headquarters may be necessary.

Candidates based on PST or MST may need to work a flexible schedule due to the cross-functional nature of the organization with teams in India and Berlin.
