Our GraphQL Platforms team is building one of the core data platforms that will power all of Wayfair’s frontends, and we’re doing it on cutting-edge hardware. Wayfair just switched to GraphQL, but the federated ecosystem already handles more than 10 billion requests each month. The Wayfair GraphQL team has been invited to conferences and community events, and it has had an impact on the creation of the more comprehensive federated GraphQL specification. You will carry out:

Drive the product strategy, roadmap, and discovery for the GraphQL Platform.
Make a long-term plan for a technical overhaul that affects all aspects of Wayfair.
To make sure that the company is aware of your vision and how it supports its goals, promote your products internally.

You will need:

4+ years of experience in managing software products, with a focus on data-driven product discovery. technical knowledge and experience managing cross-organizational projects.
Because you’ve managed platforms, you can spot generic capabilities that meet each client’s specific needs, transforming ideas into a roadmap and a vision for the platform’s potential.
You can maintain a conversation in a highly technical setting and collaborate well with your engineers to design the architecture.
Having experience with or an interest in product managing development platforms, as well as working with a customer base that is primarily made up of teams within the company.
a track record of scaling operations in the face of extremely high developer and web traffic.
Understanding of performance and quality issues (latency, scalability, availability, and flame graphs).
Strong communication skills; able to interact with engineers comfortably and explain difficult technical concepts to audiences who are not technical experts.
knowledge of federated GraphQL also referred to as GraphQL, federation, Apollo, gateway, router, schema registry, and operation registry.
understanding of the shift to service-based architectures.
Two prerequisites for development platforms are the establishment of measurable goals (KPIs) and familiarity with the OKR planning model.
