Perform phlebotomy procedures accurately and efficiently on patients of all ages, including difficult venipunctures and pediatric draws.
Train and mentor junior phlebotomists in proper procedures and techniques.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Collect and process specimens according to established protocols and procedures.
Verify patient information and test requests to ensure accuracy.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of all phlebotomy procedures performed.
Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to specimen collection, handling, and processing.
Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.

Job Qualifications
Extensive Phlebotomy Experience: A Sr Phlebotomist At Baptist Health South Florida Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Performing Phlebotomy Procedures In A Clinical Laboratory Setting. This Experience Should Include Proficiency In Difficult Venipunctures, Pediatric And Geriatric Blood Draws, And Knowledge Of Various Specimen Collection Methods.
Strong Interpersonal And Communication Skills: The Role Of A Sr Phlebotomist Requires Frequent Interactions With Patients, Medical Staff, And Laboratory Personnel. Therefore, Candidates Should Possess Excellent Communication Skills, Be Able To Work Well In A Team Environment, And Have A Friendly And Professional Demeanor.
Knowledge Of Laboratory Operations: The Sr Phlebotomist Will Be Responsible For Overseeing The Day-To-Day Operations Of The Laboratory, Including Scheduling, Inventory Management, And Quality Control. Candidates Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Laboratory Operations, Including Safety Protocols, Compliance Regulations, And Proficiency In Using Laboratory Equipment.
Leadership And Supervisory Experience: As A Senior Member Of The Laboratory Team, The Sr Phlebotomist Will Be Responsible For Supervising And Training Junior Phlebotomists. Therefore, Candidates Should Have Previous Experience In A Leadership Or Supervisory Role, Demonstrating Strong Management Skills And The Ability To Effectively Train And Mentor Others.
Education And Certification: A Sr Phlebotomist At Baptist Health South Florida Should Possess A High School Diploma Or Equivalent, As Well As Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician From A Recognized Institution.
