We are seeking an experienced Legal Dictation Transcriptionist to join our team. This is a contracted, fully remote position with flexible hours, offering an excellent opportunity for transcriptionists with prior legal experience to showcase their skills while working from home.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transcribe dictated recordings varying in audio length and quality.
- Accurately transcribe legal documents, insurance forms, letters, memos, and notes.
- Use proper spelling, capitalization, and legal, medical, and location terms.
- Conduct basic research to ensure the accuracy and completeness of transcribed work.
- Follow E-Typist guidelines and client preferences for formatting and proofreading work before submission.
Qualifications:
- Minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute.
- Experience in dictation transcription and word processing in an office environment within the last 5 years.
- Strong working knowledge of creating formal correspondence, memos, reports, etc.
- Familiarity with legal and workers’ compensation terminology.
- Experience creating interrogatories, deposition summaries, and legal court documents.
- Knowledge of proper legal citation formatting.
- Strong knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word 2007 or newer, with advanced formatting skills.
- Excellent listening skills and ability to work independently.
Success Criteria:
- Minimum of 30 hours per week of work.
- Maintain a spelling accuracy rate of 95% or higher after the first 30 days.
- Maintain grammar and formatting accuracy rate of 95% or higher after the first 30 days.
System Requirements and Equipment Needed:
- Reliable high-speed internet access.
- Computer or laptop with Windows 7 or higher and Microsoft Office 365.
- Transcription pedal and headphones (recommended models: TVPS Legal Foot Pedals and TVPS Transcription Headsets).
