Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy for the City of Pittsburgh, in alignment with the city’s mission and values.<\/p>\n
Oversee and manage all internal and external communications, including media relations, public relations, social media, and other digital platforms.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with various city departments and stakeholders to identify key messages and initiatives that promote the city’s progress and growth.<\/p>\n
Serve as the primary spokesperson for the city, effectively communicating with the media and responding to inquiries and requests for information.<\/p>\n
Develop and maintain relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets to ensure positive coverage of the city.<\/p>\n
Create and manage communications materials such as press releases, speeches, talking points, and other written materials.<\/p>\n
Manage and monitor the city’s social media presence, ensuring consistent messaging and engagement with the community.<\/p>\n
Monitor and analyze media coverage and public perception of the city, and provide recommendations for improvement.<\/p>\n
Plan and execute events and campaigns to engage and inform the community about city initiatives and progress.<\/p>\n
Lead a team of communications professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure the success of the department.<\/p>\n
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in communications to continuously improve the city’s communications efforts.<\/p>\n
Handle crisis communications and manage any potential negative publicity effectively.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with other city departments to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communications channels.<\/p>\n
Represent the city in various public forums and events as needed.<\/p>\n
Uphold the city’s values and promote a positive image of the city at all times.<\/p>\n
