Provide exceptional customer service to patrons of the public libraries in the City of Oakland.<\/p>\n
Promote literacy and lifelong learning by recommending and providing access to educational resources.<\/p>\n
Assist patrons in finding and utilizing library resources, including books, computers, and databases.<\/p>\n
Create and maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for all library patrons.<\/p>\n
Develop and implement programs and events that engage the community and promote library services.<\/p>\n
Stay up-to-date on current library trends and technology to better serve patrons.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with other library staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.<\/p>\n
Assist with collection development and maintenance, including selecting and weeding materials.<\/p>\n
Aid in the training and supervision of library volunteers and interns.<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate records and statistics related to library usage and services.<\/p>\n
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.<\/p>\n
Follow library policies and procedures to ensure a safe and secure environment for patrons and staff.<\/p>\n
Serve as a positive representative of the City of Oakland and its public libraries.<\/p>\n
Actively contribute to a positive team dynamic and work collaboratively with colleagues.<\/p>\n
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory staff.<\/p>\n

Job Qualifications<\/p>\n
Bachelor’s Degree In Library Science Or Related Field: A Librarian I, Pt At The City Of Oakland Must Possess A Bachelor’s Degree In Library Science Or A Related Field To Demonstrate A Strong Foundation In Library Principles And Practices.<\/p>\n

Previous Library Experience: Candidates For This Position Should Have Prior Experience Working In A Library Setting, Either Through Internships, Part-Time Or Full-Time Employment. This Experience Will Demonstrate An Understanding Of Library Operations And Customer Service.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Knowledge Of Library Technology And Resources: The City Of Oakland Is Looking For A Librarian I, Pt Who Is Comfortable Using Various Library Technologies And Resources, Including Online Databases, Library Catalogs, And Digital Collections.<\/p>\n

Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As A Public-Facing Role, The Librarian I, Pt Must Have Exceptional Communication Skills To Interact With Library Patrons Of All Ages And Backgrounds.
