Utilize a strong understanding of the higher education landscape to assist students in navigating the system.<\/p>\n
Help students develop academic plans and set goals for their educational pursuits.<\/p>\n
Stay up-to-date on university policies, procedures, and resources to effectively advise students.<\/p>\n
Build strong relationships with students and serve as a trusted resource for their academic needs.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with other university departments and staff to coordinate and deliver targeted support services for students.<\/p>\n
Identify and address any barriers to academic success that students may be facing.<\/p>\n
Advocate for students and ensure their needs are met within the university system.<\/p>\n
Use effective communication skills to provide clear and accurate information to students.<\/p>\n
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate records of student interactions and progress.<\/p>\n
Continuously evaluate and improve advising practices to best meet the needs of students.<\/p>\n
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills and knowledge.<\/p>\n
Act as a liaison between students and university administration, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise.<\/p>\n
Serve as a positive representative of The University of New Mexico and its mission.<\/p>\n

Job Qualifications<\/p>\n
Master’s Degree In Education, Curriculum And Instruction, Or Related Field.<\/p>\n

Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Working In The Field Of Education, Preferably In A Consulting Or Advisory Role.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Strong Knowledge Of Current Educational Trends, Policies, And Best Practices.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Various Stakeholders Including Faculty, Administrators, And Students.<\/p>\n
