Develop and lead the GI Oncology program at the University of New Mexico Cancer Center, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with gastrointestinal cancers.<\/p>\n
Create and implement strategic plans for the GI Oncology program in alignment with the overall goals and mission of the Cancer Center.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with other department leaders and physicians to integrate the GI Oncology program with other cancer programs and research initiatives.<\/p>\n
Provide clinical leadership and expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of GI cancers.<\/p>\n
Develop and maintain relationships with referring physicians and community partners to promote the program and expand referral sources.<\/p>\n
Mentor and supervise junior faculty members, residents, and fellows in the GI Oncology program.<\/p>\n
Participate in and lead research studies and clinical trials related to GI cancers, contributing to the advancement of cancer treatment.<\/p>\n
Stay updated on the latest developments and advancements in the field of GI oncology and implement best practices into the program.<\/p>\n
Provide compassionate and patient-centered care to individuals with GI cancers, ensuring their physical, emotional, and psychological needs are met.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with support staff, including nurses, social workers, and nutritionists, to provide comprehensive care to patients.<\/p>\n
Participate in department and Cancer Center meetings, presenting updates and progress of the GI Oncology program.<\/p>\n
Work with the marketing and communications team to promote the GI Oncology program and its services to the community.<\/p>\n
Uphold ethical standards and maintain compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and policies.<\/p>\n

Job Qualifications<\/p>\n
Medical Degree: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution, With A Focus On Hematology And Oncology.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Board Certification: Candidates Should Be Board Certified In Hematology And Oncology, With A Subspecialty Certification In Gastrointestinal Oncology.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Clinical Experience: The Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Clinical Practice In The Field Of Hematology And Oncology, With A Focus On Gastrointestinal Malignancies.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Leadership Skills: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Demonstrated Leadership Skills And Experience In Leading A Team Or Program In The Field Of Hematology And Oncology, Preferably In A Academic Or Research Setting.<\/p>\n

Research Experience: The Candidate Should Have A Strong Track Record Of Research In The Field Of Gastrointestinal Oncology, With A Record Of Publications And Grant Funding. Experience In Clinical Trials And Translational Research Is Also Desirable.<\/p>\n
