Provide high-quality patient care: The primary responsibility of the Registered Nurse in the Ortho\/Spine Unit is to deliver exceptional care to patients recovering from orthopedic and spinal surgeries. This includes assessing patient needs, creating and implementing care plans, and monitoring patient progress.<\/p>\n
Collaborate with interdisciplinary team: The Registered Nurse will work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, therapists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for patients.<\/p>\n
Maintain accurate documentation: It is essential for the Registered Nurse to maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, treatments, and medications, in compliance with hospital policies and legal requirements.<\/p>\n
Administer medications and treatments: The Registered Nurse will be responsible for administering medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians and monitoring their effectiveness and potential side effects.<\/p>\n
Educate patients and families: The RN will provide education to patients and their families on post-surgical care, medication management, and self-care techniques to promote recovery and prevent complications.<\/p>\n
Adhere to safety and infection control protocols: The Registered Nurse must follow all safety and infection control protocols to maintain a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors.<\/p>\n
Handle emergencies: In the event of an emergency, the RN must quickly assess the situation and take appropriate actions to stabilize the patient and communicate with the healthcare team.<\/p>\n
Utilize critical thinking skills: The Registered Nurse will need to use critical thinking skills to make quick and accurate decisions, prioritize care, and anticipate and respond to changes in the patient’s condition.<\/p>\n
Maintain professional development: The RN must stay informed about current best practices, advancements in technology, and changes in healthcare policies to provide the best possible care to patients.<\/p>\n

Valid Rn License In The State Of Connecticut: A Registered Nurse Must Hold A Current And Valid License In The State Where They Will Be Practicing. This Ensures They Have Met The Education And Competency Requirements Set By The State And Can Provide Safe And Effective Patient Care.<\/p>\n

Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree: While An Associate Degree In Nursing May Be Accepted For Some Positions, Many Hospitals, Including Yale New Haven Health System, Prefer Candidates With A Bsn Degree. This Higher Level Of Education Prepares Nurses To Be Competent, Compassionate, And Critical Thinkers In Their Practice.<\/p>\n

Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Orthopedic\/Spine Nursing: Yale New Haven Health System Requires A Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Orthopedic\/Spine Nursing For This Position. This Ensures The Nurse Has A Strong Foundation In Caring For Patients With Musculoskeletal Issues And Is Familiar With Common Procedures And Treatments In This Specialty.<\/p>\n

Bls And Acls Certification: Basic Life Support (Bls) And Advanced Cardiac Life Support (Acls) Are Essential Certifications For Nurses In Any Unit. These Certifications Ensure The Nurse Is Prepared To Respond To Emergency Situations And Can Provide Life-Saving Interventions If Necessary.<\/p>\n
