Ensure the safety of children as they cross busy intersections and crosswalks on their way to and from school.
Be present and vigilant at designated crosswalks during school hours.
Help educate children about safe crossing practices.
Communicate effectively with children, parents, and other community members.
Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
Monitor traffic and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
Work collaboratively with school staff, law enforcement, and other crossing guards.
Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor while on duty.
Be reliable and punctual for assigned shifts.
Attend mandatory training sessions and stay updated on safety procedures and regulations.
Be a positive role model for children and represent the City of Pittsburgh in a professional manner.
Provide assistance to children with disabilities or special needs.
Assist in emergency situations, such as accidents or inclement weather.
Keep accurate records of daily activities and report any incidents or accidents.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Continuously monitor and assess potential hazards and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of children.
Be responsible for the proper use and maintenance of equipment, such as stop signs and safety vests.
Adhere to all city and state laws and regulations.
Follow instructions and guidance from supervisors.
